Legend has it that UNC Pauper Players was originally to be called Gold Coin Productions, after founding members Angela Coin and Scott Gold. The name Pauper Players came about after Angela and Scott learned how little monetary support they would be receiving from UNC Student Government.

Almost 30 years later, not much has changed. While UNC Student Government provides some funds to cover a portion of cost of rights to perform a show, UNC Pauper Players is responsible for funding the costs of productions, including costumes, props, set pieces and last but not least, venue rental fees, which have been steadily rising for venues operated by Carolina Performing Arts, such as Historic Playmakers Theatre.

If you are interested helping UNC Pauper Players continue to bring quality musical theatre to the Chapel Hill community and educational opportunities to students at UNC, you can help in two ways:

  1. Purchasing tickets and attending our performances for both mainstage and seasonal productions.
  2. Giving monetary donations through Paypal’s secure server.
